Got a late start this morning and the temp was already about 80F, the pavement was burning my feet a bit the last couple miles...had to swerve into the grass a few times. Still making progress and I'll keep this up with no speedy running planned. Mile 1 - 7:43 HR 132 warmup mile Mile 2 -...
Second Maff test of the year...had a hard time running an even pace. Temp in the hi 60's sunny with a breeze. Did one mile at the end as a spot check for half marathon effort. 8 miles total with warmup and cool down. Still showing some improvement so no speedy running needed yet. Mile 1...
Nice trail run, local woods, windy and warm. This was good recovery on the legs but a real workout of the foot reflexes, walked here and there on the uphills. Time 52:27 Distance 3.5 miles Pace 15:00 Av HR 127
Same run as yesterday but picture perfect spring day with a nice breezy headwind on the way back from the park. Soles where sensitive to the rough road on the last mile...think they need a trail run soon. Time 59:19 Distance 7 miles Pace 8:28 Av HR 136
Off and on light rain, mid 60's with a breeze...very nice conditions. Out and back to Harbins park, tried to stick to my new Maff target heart rate of 135. Felt good but still need a bit more recovery from Sunday long run. Time 1:00:12 Distance 7 miles Pace 8:36 Av HR 136
Thinking about doing a short Ultra in the fall....think I'll go do a run/hike on the Georgia Jewell 35 mile race course in a week or two to see what the trail surface is like...barefoot friendly? I doubt it but I want to see anyways. Nice short recovery run... a little rainy and cool. Time...
Met up with local barefooters Gerry and Jim at the excellent Alpharetta Greenway...we did a five miler along the south end of the greenway. I hadn't ran there for 2 or 3 years and had forgotten how nice it is. Afterwards decided to do a long run by myself since it was so nice out plus the easy...
After 7 days in a row of running...I can say i like running everyday. Total miles for the week 42.5...a little too high so the next couple weeks will keep it in the mid 30's. Today was an easy recovery run on the rough local trails, yesterdays rain softened up the ground so it was a little...
Helped my son work on his car for a couple hours yesterday...felt a bit sore this morning so wasn't sure how far I would run today. Small thunderstorm rolled thru right before i started running... the roads were wet for the first 30 minutes or so. Pavement felt a little less rough where it was...
Easy 7 miler today same as yesterday... sole conditioning is getting better and has pretty much caught up to to my fitness. Ran by feel and didn't do the nose breathing today...heart rate about 3 - 5 beats too high from ideal. Think I'm ready to start running everyday for awhile. Time 59:28...
Ran the local rough trails... was too lazy to drive anywhere and felt like a trail run. This trail really jacks up the heart rate... walked a little here and there on the rocky downhills. Legs felt really good at this slow azz pace. Time 1:01:02 Distance 4.30 miles Pace 14:11 Av HR 137
First Maff test of the year, went to the local High School track and ran 8 miles with first 6 miles Maff test. After Maff test did one mile at half marathon effort = HR 166 Time 7:01 then a slow last 1/2 mile to cool down. Temp was hi 60's to lo 70's during run. Fitness is mostly back from...
Another try at running by feel, usual run to Harbins park, worked out close to ideal but heart rate was just a few beats too high...next time I'll slow down just a bit up the hills. Its turned warmer now low 70's early in the morning. Time 1:02:30 Distance 7 miles Pace 9:02 Av HR 141
Tried something new on my long run today...want to improve my pacing awareness without watching my Garmin. Set my Garmin display to only show the Time of Day so I couldn't use it to keep my pace low instead just ran by feel and only breathing thru nose to help stay slowed down. As I was running...
Did my usual out and back to Harbins park...sunny and windy 60's still very nice. Wasn't much motivated today, worked on cars for several hours yesterday and I'm sore some today but it didn't hamper my running much. Pavement still was feeling plenty rough the first 2 or 3 miles... this road...
It rained a bunch yesterday so today I went to Tribble Mill park to get some trail running in while the paths were wet and softened up. Ran 1 lap around the little lake then hit the trails on the hill above the lake...after about 6 miles my feet were telling me they had enough running on the...
Usual route over to Harbins park and back, warmer and sunny but still fine. I'm going to stick with this route for awhile, the rough pavement is just right for fine tuning the running form and sole conditioning. The MAFF heartrate is just 2 or 3 beats lower than where body just wants to be...
7 miler out and back to Harbins park, cloudy humid but still nice out, pavement didn't heat up any...ran less on the painted lines today. Time 1:00:42 Pace 8:48 Av HR 137
First long run of the year, ran to Harbins park then 3 miles trail plus all the park pavement then back home. Chilly out in the beginning but warmed up quickly and the pavement was even starting to burn my feet a little the last couple miles. Rolling course with a few good uphills about 1000...
5 miler local roads...first half mile warmup with son. Nice and sunny lo 50's. Time 45:08 Pace 9:02 Av HR 133
