Tried something new on my long run today...want to improve my pacing awareness without watching my Garmin. Set my Garmin display to only show the Time of Day so I couldn't use it to keep my pace low instead just ran by feel and only breathing thru nose to help stay slowed down. As I was running I kept thinking I might be going too fast and tried to keep it slow...turns out it worked a little too good and my average heart rate was about 10 beats lower than I would have predicted. There was also a 1.5 mile section of extremely slow gravelly trail that kinda skewed my overall pace and heart rate.
Ran over to Harbins park then hit the hiking trail...the gravel like rocks have become too much to enjoy this trail much nowadays, I'll still hit this once in awhile but only for foot conditioning purposes...after 1.5 miles I had enough... did see some deer and a wild Turkey. Next ran the 4.3 miles of paved park trails then headed back home...detoured on a side road for a couple extra miles. Feet held up well no hotspots or blisters...stayed off the white lines except a little the last 2 miles...feet were feeling the roughness by then and the pavement was heating up.

Distance 15.61 miles
