Keeping w/ the theme of "slow but steady", I am maintaining my discipline w/ 10% increase in time per week. Some TOTFP last week (after I rode a stationary bike for 45 mins w/ my VIBRAMS), but I iced it down, had a 2 day break before my long run on Friday, did some yoga, & I was able to finish out the week w/ no TOTFP.
To recap, I was able to hit every one of my goals for WEEK 6 (8/21/11 - 8/28/11)
8 mins on Sunday (check. did it tonight on an indoor track. my calves still felt a little tight so I will spend some time tonight doing the passive massage w/ the tennis balls. But I feel fine overall. No pain in right forefoot.
9 mins on Tues. (I ran this on sidewalk & felt some TOTFP @ 6 mins in. Stopped, stretched, walked some & then started again but slower & was able to finish the BFR. I iced my foot & had 2 days rest before the next BFR, which was my long run).
23 mins on Friday @ the cross country course. (My TOTFP dissipated w/ the extra day of rest & my feet & muscles feel fine after the Friday run.)
Total BFR WEEK 6 = 40 mins.
Goals for WEEK 7 = 44 mins total (8/28/11 - 9/3/11).
9 mins on Sunday (8/28) or early monday (8/29).
10 mins on Tues (8/30).
25 mins on Friday @ cross country course.
TBH, I am both: (a) surprised @ how slow this process is; and (b) excited that I'm almost over double digits for all 3 runs during the week. Still doing the yoga & swimming & elliptical cross-training. Feeling a little less self-conscious w/ the BFR. Trying to consciously slow down & bend my knees more since I had TOTFP last week.
wish me luck! s/s.
