Day 2

First day back to work after a longvacay. Got home and had plans for a movie date with the wife, so decided to see if I could cram in my second day of the program before I had to shower and head out. I knew I wasn't exactly brimming with energy, but got interested in trying to do the run on that walking path. I have aGarminForerunner and ran around trying to set it up. Totally distracted me. I should have just left it and went out. I am listening to my Bears getting demolished by the Pats on the radio as I put on my classics and head out the door. I use my walk down to the path to warm up, and have a brief look at the terrain. I decide to throw caution to the winds and relieve myself of my footwear. Shoes in hand and I get the beep for the first run. My head is not in the game at all as I try to adjust so I don't tear up my right big toe (mission accomplished) since it feels like I want to pivot or push off of it on pitted asphalt. Pats score another TD off a turnover as I hear the beep for the walking portion. Did another cycle and put the shoes back on. My soles look a nice cherry red which looks very familiar from pictures, and no broken skin. I am proud I actually ran today sans shoes, but I totally set myself up for failure. Iwasn'thydrated enough and should have had a snack for energy before I got off work. I was losing energy way too fast which I knew from my inability to maintain my cadence. I figured if I was that distracted, thirsty, and lackingenergy, then I was headed for a disaster. Sounded retreat, and I figured I would live to run another day. I still have several days to fit those two days in so no worries there. Still smiling about the barefoot portion of my run since that was a huge step for me.
