Running in Kilts

I think he's referring to grappling as in wrestling. Have you ever been flipping through the channels only to find one with two sweaty guys tangled up with one another and grunting? And it's NOT the gay porn channel you usually watch? :)Well then it's grappling, just one part of mixed martial arts. The sweat changes things a lot.

LOL....yes, that's what I'm talking about :)

lmao Shacky:p

TJ, can't quite tell where the base of the junk is from the picture...can we focus it a bit??

Just smear a bit of body glide on your bits Jason and see how that does ya.

Damn it, now you guys are making me want one...though I suppose I could just go out and run in any ol skirt, couldn't I? I have been tempted to head out on a run in a sun dress. hmmm

Or a nun dress, Zum.An arrow

Or a nun dress, Zum.

An arrow will do, Jason.

Stomper, my hubby is always watching man on man stuff...he loves that ultimate fighting crap. He used to wrestle in high school...ooooh!

and ewwww!

that would make for one

that would make for one sweaty chafy mess though wouldn't it Teej?

You guys got me

You guys got me thinking.....

Why would ANYBODY even consider entering this one:

Uh, like maybe because it's three miles from my house?

Who here is going to help me design my outfit?

Too easy Shackorama, I would

Too easy Shackorama, I would just have to find a red dress.

The challenge for my hometown race will be something that fits their criteria and looks right with bare feet.

I'm thinking bow tie, vest, and black short shorts.

But then again I'm really not interested in my neighbors assuming I have

crossed over into sexual ambiguity.

Find me a dressed up for the red carpet look that goes not only with bare feet but manliness as well, and I'll be even more indebted to you. Remember, you pinned my first ever race bib on me in the freezing rain despite your numb hands and fingers.

placed an order for my kilt

placed an order for my kilt yesterday and got confirmation that it shipped early this morning.

Should be able to go for a run in it before the week's up.

Forget the Red Carpet...what about Joan Rivers? How old is she these days anyway? Carry on...

Great, now I realize that my

Great, now I realize that my wife will be in FL visiting her mom on Red Carpet Run day.

So in my own hometown I will show up solo in whatever get-up I decide on,

only to read in our local newspaper the following week:

"Although Dr. Longboard maintains that he is really a married family man and straight, no trace of his wife or kids could be found."

Not that there's anything wrong with that...........

I was totally shopping today

I was totally shopping today for kilts with the idea of running in them. Way cool that this topic is being discussed.

At an outdoor retailer expo, I ran across Utilikilts. I wanted to have a reason to buy one, but I couldn't at the time. Now, I may give 'em a try. They are nowhere near traditional, but their cool factor is very high, cargo pockets and all... May be an answer for trail or distance running ???

Look forward to reading more from all of your experiences with your kilts.

I was browsing around and

I was browsing around and stumbled upon a blog by a guy named Mark (have visited his site a few times in the past) and saw he did (sort of) a video review for Running Skirts. Had me laughing pretty good.

Awesome Shacky! I'd never

Awesome Shacky! I'd never even heard of running in a kilt until I saw it here. I would love to - my wife has pretty much forbidden it at this point. I would like to make my own, but I have way too many other irons in the fire at this point.

Good luck with the interview! And nice job on the kilt!

 My ThriftyKilt from

My ThriftyKilt from Stillwater Kilts. I had to get some pointers on how to properly put it on and then I didn't know to remove the pleat stitching. Other then that, these are pretty sweet.

I did not go commando in order to spare my running partners. I had a pair of Zoot 2-in-1 shorts that I don't like to wear and so I cut out the spandex liner (which includes 2 pockets) and wore the liner underneath.

I wore the Vibram Treks along with the highest injinji socks I own and went for a 5 miler. Very humid out this morning and I was drenched in sweat after about 2 miles. The kilt was ok but the top section that goes around the waist was a little bothersome. A tad bit itchy due to all the sweat but pretty comfortable to run in.

I was chatting up one of the girls along the way and she turned out to be a beginner barefooter (strictly beach and sidewalks for now). I mentioned that I've done this trail barefoot be and she promised she'd try it barefoot if I will. She's also interested in a kilt. We'll do this together in 2 weeks, maybe even next week but there is a downtown run I like to do every other week.

Bonus - when I got to work I had a message from a reporter of the North County Times waiting for me. Someone told him that I am a barefoot running COACH and he'd like to interview me for an article he's putting together. I called him and set him straight and he'd still like to interview me. Might be my 2nd newspaper article of the year.

Edit - I did a facebook photo album of todays trail run in case anyone is interested: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2048721&id=1124632342&l=7b4c40631c

Great news! I just showed my

Great news! I just showed my wife the picture Nate just posted and she gave me permission to get and wear a kilt.

The bad news - I can only get and wear a kilt if my body looks like Nate's. Sigh. Looks like I'm gonna have to start doing more than just running....

Very nicely done, Nate. My wife thinks so, too.

Shacky, see the girl in the blue vest with the pink shorts? She's wearing my running club's race vest from the 2009 Peachtree City Classic 15K/5K. We are in Georgia! Do you know her? I wonder if she is in my running club or how she came to run that race. BTW, your photos make me miss home even more.
