Hey guys. I'm back.....like a bad case of shingles.
I don't know who all is still around that I used to chat/argue with here, but I thought I would say hi and post a quick update.
I started running barefoot again this week after over a year away from barefoot running. Today I will make my second barefoot run of probably 1/2 mile, combined with a 1.5 mile barefoot walk. I did this a few days ago and my feet were stiff for a day, but no damage or injuries. I'll probably increase my running distance about 1/4 mile each week for the next several weeks and just see how it goes. That was the system that used to work a few years back, so I hope the rules haven't changed.
Anyway, some old craniums may remember that I had IT band syndrome a little over a year ago, and finally took some time off to heal, then sort of started running again before I got addicted to CrossFit (CF) and just stopped running altogether. I'm still addicted to CF by the way, but I missed running long distances and I really missed doing those runs barefoot. I ran a 5k a few weeks ago in Merrell Trail Gloves and the entire time I just kept thinking how boring it was. So, I decided to drink the Cool Aid again. For anyone who is curious, I have not done any training runs outside of what little running we do in CF, but I was able to run a 5k with no problems at a faster pace and with less effort than I could when I was actually training to run. Weird, but true. That CF cult shiznit works.
