Texarkana Run the Line Half Marathon (My first unshod half)

I finished my first barefoot half marathon yesterday. It was 35F degrees and 21F degrees windchill. I started off wearing my Sockwa shoes (2mm stack height) with some warm socks for the first two miles to get my blood flowing good. After that I ran barefoot(unshod/skin to ground). I use this strategy a lot on very cold days. I will often loose feeling in my feet pretty quick if I don't start with shoes like this and if I do 'shoes first' I can run without trouble at very cold temps. It worked pretty very well. I did have some pain achilles pain at the end that slowed me down some but nothing too bad. I think that might have been a result of cringing from the cold temperature at the start of the race. It's a bit of a challenge to keep everything relaxed and loose when it's cold and windy. It was a very fun race and I really enjoyed myself.
