This was my first time ever having a HUB beer and it surprised me at how good it was. I am not normally the biggest regular IPA drinker (I like my doubles/imperials) but wow, perfection for an IPA.Dude. Hopworks is a staple in my fridge! The IPA rocks, and the pub lager is really good. If you want an ass kicking, try the survival 7 grain stout. Serious bidness.
Ok so I cracked the double bastard and I absolutely love it. It ha a hint of an import German beer that I get occasionally when we go out to a German restaurant. My wife on the other hand hates it, absolutely repulsed by it. She's now even madder that I spent the money on it because SHE thinks it's nasty even though I'm the one drinking it and I love it. All I did was let her have a taste of it because I thought it was so good. Must just be one of those beers you either love or hate.
It's just one particular German import that I like. I really liked it a lot though. Ya, at just over 11% it really can wallop you. I wish it wasn't seasonal and wasn't so expensive.Double bastard is great, I actually think it is more akin to a Belgian trippel or quadrupple than anything from Germany. Well I take that back I haven't gotten through too many German beers, they aren't easy to find here oddly enough. Last time I drank a 22oz bottle of it I remember being a bit tipsy.
My wife hates my IPAs, but she likes the malty stuff I can't stand. No accounting for taste, opposites attract, and all that.Ok so I cracked the double bastard and I absolutely love it. Funny Lee, sounds like I may be like your wife in that. I am not typically big into regular ipa's. They tend to give me bitter beer face. There's maybe only a small handful of regular ipa's that I will drink. Doubles/imperials on the other hand with the higher malts and bitters seem more balanced to my palatte. Regular ipa's tend to really seem bitter to me, or have a hell of a bite. I also tend to really like the doubles/imperials with more of caramel flavor than a citrus flavor. Not really big on the citrus flavor in a lot of beer.My wife hates my IPAs, but she likes the malty stuff I can't stand. No accounting for taste, opposites attract, and all that.
Thanks for the tip Tristan, I'll look for the Rye of the Tiger, despite the cheesy name.
