Dave, I actually bought some Elderberry wine today actually. Someday I'd love to try making my own. Still looking for bigger property for my future gardens/vineyards/orchards.

I had to celebrate setting a PR today. After making PR's in every single distance a couple years ago, and then having a terrible year last year, its nice to finally break one again. Since the race was up in Ohio's Amish Country, I revisited a winery there that I had been too before and loved. I picked out a case but 1 I splurged on for my victory today. Breitenbach's 4-barrel Tawny Port. Its an amazing desert wine, I've never had another port that came close. Nice ceramic bottle and waxed top. Kind of pricey though!

Not beer, but after 6 bf miles this morning, a pig roast supper, I'm going to chill with a bottle of Buffalo Trace bourbon and some classic Stones tunes!

Interesting... must have been just a few days before you posted that Longboard that I tried my first Lagunitas. I've heard it a few times on here but never tried the one variety that was always on the shelf. However I was in a place that had a few different IPA's from Lagunitas, one of which being the Maximus (first I'd ever seen it), so figured I'd give it a try. Pretty good, nothing spectacular IMO but I wouldn't mind getting it again some time.

Meanwhile A-B Inbev is trying to purchase SB-Miller.
If that happens there will be one brewing company plus everybody else.

Tried an Oktoberfest Marzen Lager from Lefthand Brewery. Really enjoyed it. Might have to get the other (only bought 2:().

Tried a flight of six different Marzens at a place nearby. Five were pretty similar, very true to the style. One stood out as tasting entirely different and ordinary. No surprise.....it was Sam Adams Oktoberfest.

Now it's looking as if they will have to spin off Millers-Coors from the company in U.S. operations so there will be at least ONE other large brewer doing business in North America.

50 MPH winds today, wind blown rain all day yesterday, and wind chills in the twenties forecast. Usually I can't drag myself to the storefront gym treadmill until around Thanksgiving, but this Autumn maybe I'll have an added motivator. The 75% occupied strip mall has a new tenant planning on opening for business any week now two doors down from the gym........a brew pub! They are named "Kickstand" and have a bicycle themed logo. Sure hope they are barefoot as well as workout cloths friendly........30 minutes treadmill/pint of IPA......another thirty on the mill, Imperial Stout........I just might make it through another Michigan Winter!

Something I have never heard of, maybe you guys out east have. A Victory Summer Love Ale. Description: "Earthy flavors of noble European hops and fresh, clean German malts settle in a Burst Of Lemony Refreshment from fistfuls of American Whole Flower Hops." I was worryed that it was one of the lemon flavored beers that are so popular now days, but it wasn't. Tasted like a malty pale ale or IPA but not as strong (5.2%). Great beer.

    Lot of good beer out.

Luponic Distortion IPA from Firestone Walker. Haven't been drinking much, trying to lose weight. I allow myself one if I run a min 10 miles for the day (no, I am not barefoot anymore). Makes me enjoy the beer. I was always a guzzler.

@rickwhitelaw, you resurrected a very old thread.

Good to hear from you, drunk or not.

Remind me, why are you no longer barefoot?

Sounds like a good plan @rickwhitelaw (except the non barefooting part lol, hopefully keeping things on the minimal side at least?). I've been more seasonable lately with Great Lakes Oktoberfest and Angry Orchard Pear Cider. Been really into the ciders for the last year or so, more so the drier ones. cheers!

You want my long list of excuses?

Impatience. I wanted to run Ultras and my feet couldn't handle the rocks. Also, couldn't build my training miles up fast enough barefoot or even in sandals.

Work. I marked trails for Ultra races. Would have been too slow barefoot.

Injuries. Dealing with PF for the last 5 years. Barefoot seemed to flare it up.

Still love doing chores barefoot and will do the occasional short run. I love having tough feet. I haven't had a blister in years. Still love to run in sandals.

    How are your feet doing?

Hey Tristan. Good you are still here. I read the reports and posts. I just seems like I don't have much to add. Congrats on your races.

I don't drink too many of the flavored beers or ciders. Any of those ciders have less sugar?

I did a taste test of Sam Adams and Shiner Oktoberfest. Both good with the slight edge to the Shiner.

Well I can only say with certainty what I have on hand - the Pear Cider - is 11g of sugar, 160 cal per bottle and a little less sweet tasting than most typical hard ciders. I like the Pear one because its a mix of apple and pear and gives it a bit more complex flavor... most ciders just taste like apple juice to me. I also like their Stone Dry Cider but haven't found it in a while, maybe it was a short run or something. Another favorite is the Stella Artois Cidre, it too seems a little less sweet but with a bit more complex flavor.

Lots of bummer there...and here too; my feet haven't improved. Shoes destroyed my feet for running, but like you, I love to be barefoot all the time otherwise.

You know, there's no requirement that our members have to be runners or barefoot for that matter.

Glad to have you back. :)
