Super seriously? It's Wednesday already. Is this one of those things where i have the week wrong or what? Ok, I'll start. Sunday: morning run, short st routine midday, late afternoon hike w the kids Monday: gym in the evening, walk at sunset around the neighborhood Tuesday: trail run/walk Wed: morning run in the neighborhood. Going to try to get to the gym after work. All the runs lately are about 4-5.5, I'm guessing. Lunas all the way. Gotta get outside. Every spring, I forget how wonderful it is to be outside and watch the bright colors come in. I can't believe I see people at the gym running on the treadmill, and not just to warm up. How could you PREFER inside on a treadmill to perfect temps, sunshine, flowers, green trees? There is a huge park right across the street with plenty of running area. I find it incomprehensible. If I could take the weights outside I would. Hey, some of you do, right?
heh heh... I was waiting... thanks... Monday, another encouraging 16 miles, barefoot this time. Tuesday, only got in a 20 minute swim, but was very active in the sense of constantly moving in all directions and using all limbs with granddaughter toddler for 10 hours, and with chores in the yard and house, so I wasn't too hard on myself for missing my biking. However, things are looking hopeful for today's schedule to fit in running and biking
wed: gym in the evening. th: gym, hoping for a hike with the kids later. I didn't head out today because of rain and apparently I'm made of sugar and had to worry about dissolving into nothing.
Treadmills = DEATH!!! http://www.post-gazette.com/news/he...arn-of-treadmill-dangers/stories/201505060028
Dodged all the treadmill runners. Sunday - around 10 miles pavement/trail mix Tuesday - 7 miles hilly paved roads Thursday - 3+ miles paved roads
Wednesday, I was in Monterey for a conference and went on a 2.5 mile barefoot run from the hotel to the aquarium and back. It was really early for me at 5:45 am!! There were about 20+ other runners in shoes. Of course, lots of people were curious about why I was barefoot. Such an exhibitionist. After the run, I walked back and forth to the aquarium again with a buddy for another 2.5 miles. Soaked my feet and ankles with ice water for 20 min to make sure I could walk the rest of the day. Brrrrrrr. It's Friday and I'm none-the-worse for it so it icing worked, I suppose.
Wednesday - ran 6 miles barefoot on a nice foot path, then biked 65 minutes Thursday - triathlon training by doing the 60 minutes of biking first, then running 3 miles in Lunas on the open road. Reminds me I don't like running with cars. Friday - Ran 7.3 miles barefoot, a lot on rough pavement. Since it was an especially slow, relaxed run, I didn't mind being asked questions by someone that to answer really required stopping for a couple of minutes. He and his wife were taking a break on a bench in the shade of a tree to take care of a little baby. They were both very interested and I think I gave them good answers. They kept nodding their heads indicating that it all made a lot of sense. Then, he asked how far I'd gone barefoot, to which I could answer that I had run the 16 barefoot on Monday. (I kind of forgot that I had run up to marathon distance barefoot last year.) Later, he asked if I had run a marathon, which is a "yes, last fall." He was totally impressed, which is always good for the spirit. Still planning a swim this afternoon.
th: gym workout fri: trail run, birthday preps for my young lady (she's 12!!!!), barefoot stroll in the park at sunset.
Took a short break following the bank holiday weekend. So just a reasonably brisk 2.5km for me this morning to get back into the routine. One squirrel and one cyclist -I think the squirrel looked the happier of the two (cyclist nearly fell off when I said hello...).
I am still alive ! March, then April and now May have all had their share of problems for me....Last week I went for a group interval run at lunch (with a bunch of 20-30 years old) and managed to injure my knee. I am slowly recovering but today is my first run back (5km) and its not 100% yet
Finished the week with a 6.4 park pavement run with a couple short tempo intervals mixed in...my leg conditioning is lagging way behind my aerobic fitness lately...need to work on that. You'll be back soon Spider, i can't hang with the young pups but i still try sometimes. ...i've noticed the same thing in the past. Keep it up! Nice keeping up with your daily workouts Sced and HBS!!
Rounded the week out with 38.6 miles total. All barefoot except for 9.3, which included this morning's run. If I wasn't trying to adapt to rougher pavement, I could run barefoot all the time, but my soles got a bit tenderized again, plus a just enough bruised to make me cringe at the thought of running barefoot this morning. I probably won't attempt any more rough ground until after my half May 30. The beginning of the week was very encouraging, but the last 3 days have been hard. Ended up skipping my swim yesterday, but did swim today, and did vigorous yard work for several hours, so I guess I'm not terribly wimpy. I am trying not to stew about it my long run on Monday, especially since I have a day to rest tomorrow.
3- 5 mile runs this week. Traveling and thunderstorms may have slowed me up. 5-thursday 5- Friday at lunch 1:00 pm (daylight out?) 5-this morning had my sights on 7 but barely beat this huge storm that's slamming as I write with extra large thunder and lightening.(I don' t mind to much getting wet but I am sure I do not want to be struck by lightening) great mileage happysongbird!! Hang in there spiderweb62.
For me, it depends on the temperature of the rain, too! But we don't get enough rain around here for me to have to deal with it much.
Saturday, I walked the lake barefoot with Efrem. That was about 3.5 miles. It was a beautiful day in Oakland. Prior to the walk 'round the lake, I walked to and from the gym for a workout, then went to the farmers market, all barefoot - my usual state on Saturdays now. Actually, I don't think I had socks, shoes or sandals on throughout the weekend except when I went to the neighbor's house for dinner. People are starting to think it's odd when my feet are covered.
