I'm new to this reporting thing, even new to keeping track of my mileage. Was busy yesterday morning, not with the NYC Marathon, but with work arranging deliveries around the roads which were closed for the Marathon, keeping Sunday School open, as well as arranging some post-marathon snacks for some runners. Had trouble getting to the neighborhood YMCA in the afternoon with all the crowds and the police asking for ID. But by nighttime, all the fuss had died down and the New York and Brooklyn streets seemed pretty quiet: People were all tuckered-out and partied-out. But I finally had time to get out and run then, so I went to visit Mom in Brooklyn and ran my traditional Mid-Brooklyn-to-Westside Central Park Manhattan jog. So that's 12.9 miles, according to GoogleMaps. I go around the west part of Prospect Park in Brooklyn and up Ninth Ave. in Manhattan, which is not the shortest route, but I like to avoid Herald Square and Times Square. Pretty slow-paced, in 3 hours, 5 minutes. Stopped here and there to take in the view, as well as to do sets of ten pull-ups on the the scaffolding opportunities. First 2.6 miles or so in my Xero-Shoe do-it-yourself 4 mm-Connect FeelTrue sole, with my own laces. All the rest, that's 10.3-miles, real barefoot. Wore a running-top (it helps avoid nipple-chafing), plus hooded-sweatshirt. It's starting to get a bit nippy out, but as I acclimate to the colder season I may ditch the shirt again, provided the NYPD doesn't stop me for "bizarre behavior."
