Well, survived one week. Rest of my life to go. Bumped up the '90 sec walk/60 sec run' to 15 minutes and felt great. Warm and humid again, but at least the trail was dry. Really concerntrated on upping the cadence - 180+ bpm and found my self just gliding over the surface, keeping the knees bent and my feet seemed to lift by themselves rather than push. Seems so counter to how I have run in the past!! Still shagged after the 15 minutes, but that's what you get for being fat and old(ish)
As I was zooming(!!) through the countryside (suburban bush trail) I was paying close attention to my body and realised that for years we were taught that pain is a warning and to pay attention to it and then, when we start hitting a fittness craze, pain seems to become something we have to push through! On the last 15 seconds of my last run I felt a tinge in my left calf, so I stopped and stretched and then walked back to work. I then streched and massaged the calf. In the past I would have pushed through and then limped for a couple of days and complained.
Dogged my first broken bottle on the trail, but received my first real injury - I bruised my heel - WHILSTWALKING!! See running is safer.
Ciao for Niao.
