Zero (current Ks) to 42 ( the meaning of life) in 12 (months) day 2

How important is a fast cadence? Inmy 20 minute workout,I did 4 minutes worth of running with a 90 sec walk in between. First minute felt great - second minute, so so - third minute - remembered a fast cadence is really necessary, so both third and fourth minute felt awesome. I was in autopilot and overstriding - opps.

Really hot and humid here - quite interesting reading about running in the cold. We've had so much rain it's not funny and now the sun is out, so the tracks are muddy (nice squelching between the toes!!) and I'm sweating up a storm just looking out the window.

Apart from gravel, no probs today. Just realised as I was stretching that I haven't had my usual heel pain for a couple of days now. Blisters are still a bit tender, so will add an extra day off and run again on Monday.

I'm running at my lunch break, so have been fielding some really interesting comments from my work collegues, some of whom are quite accomplished runners. Let's see how things turn out, as all I can say is, 'The proof is in the pudding.' mmmmm pudding

Goals - half marathon - Run Melbourne 17 July 2011

Hot and wet in Melbourne indeed with all of that flooding. Not so bad here in Sydney but more humid and not so hot.

Overstriding is not going to help fast leg turnover which you have figured out. Fast cadence with knees bent will.

"Forgot my shoes" must be getting a bit old but it makes me smile when I say it to passerby's and work people.

Hoping for a BF run tomorrow as I'm coming back from TMTS which caused a bit of inflammation around my left ankle. Everyone says start slow which I've been doing for 3 months but obviously I was deaf to my own body and kept on adding on the mileage but in Five Fingers instead of BF, silly me. Patience is what I need to learn. Do something else to keep my cardio up while I'm resting my feet between runs is also something I need to learn.

Good luck.

Thanks Kentox,

Going slow seems to take forever - all weekend I just wanted to go for a run - but then remembered nine months of with bruised femur, three months with stress fracture and sat back down!!

Good luck back at ya.

Nine months!! I was going a bit nuts last week when I couldn't run because of my ankle I can't imagine nine months of not running now that I have the bug of barefooting. I've reevaluated my goals so I can build up slowly and generally barefoot only. My form changes too much when I'm in VFF's and I do too much way to soon. Hopefully I have learnt my lesson. It is easier to go out slow if you have a injury reminding you of the pain.

Keep going. Look forward to your next blog post.
