Today my family and I set out for the local Turkey Trot 5k run/ walk.
Somehow we got caught up in the 10k runners at the start of the race and before we figure it out we were 3k into the 10k. The 5k was on a completely different coarse and there was no way to start again. Everyone desided to finished the 10k. One of my boys had taken off at the start of the race and when he past me, looking fresh as he headed back to the finish, I yelled " Way to go, keep going". All he said was " I am doing the 10k!" His time was 1:00:06 amazing for a 9 yrs old with no training other than PE everyday.
The PE teacher has been building up their running time with the goal of running for 20 mins without stopping. He can not wait to tell the PE teacher about his accidental 10k.
All the kids are doing great. My wife is a little sore.
