Ouch, that hurts...

Transitioning slowly to barefoot running...
Until today, the running part went very well... OK, I'm only running about 1 km barefoot, but no sore calves, no blisters...
But...
I haven't been wearing shoes at home for the last few weeks, not inside, and not in the garden.
And our garden, well, that garden is 'a little bit unkempt'. There is a little grove, there are some stony paths... And Sunday, well, I suddenly stepped on a stone, and it pointed just in that soft spot of my right arch. Well, that really did hurt! But it didn't last long, in minutes, I forgot about it.
Until that afternoon, when I went for a short hike, and put on my Teva-sandals... My sole felt bruised, and I indeed had a blue spot there...

Oh yes... and there are those hawthornhedges in our garden... and there is my husband, who pruned them last week... And it turned out he didn't gather the last prunings.
Indeed... Sunday evening there suddenly was a tiny little twig, with a not so tiny little thorn... and that not so tiny little thorn, stuck straight up in the air... And my poor right feet, with it's poor big toe... landed with the toe just on that not so tiny little thorn.
Man... that did hurt....

But that thorn too... I forgot about it fairly soon... Until I woke up in the middle of the night, and felt a strange pain in my right big toe... After a while I remembered the thorn, and began to worry the wound would start festering, allthough it was not a throbbing pain...

Two days later now... I still feel my bruised sole, at least when I'm wearing shoes. But I'm glad my toe seems to be all right...

So now I'm wondering... I was always proud I was an injuty-free runner. Can I still say I'm running injury-free? After all... those two accidents were caused by WALKING barefoot!
