last years time was 6:24 this years 4:20. Very happy with that. I had one more full year of barefoot running under my belt. The experience of others is a powerful thing. At one point in the marathon there were three barefooters running together with one up ahead. As we passed the 17 k mark I...
Mark and me. Mark PRed and I had fun:)
I may have to signup if I can swing it. Very tempting For me it is all about layers, three if it is -10, two below 5. Looks like you have the idea. If I start a run feeling comfortable then usualy I am overdressed. A good tuque can make up for most mistakes. :)
Two great discoveries there, VFF are not too good in winter( water shoes are), and running on ice is good for form. Nice work!
If someone could delete this posting the image is way to big :) Please & Thanks sorry I load it by mistake
You are doing great. Glad to see you getting out of your shoes even for a bit. There are Docs in the house who may be able to help relax that calf. For me time and deep massage works. Hills can be tricky, you may be staying up on your forefoot and no dropping your heel. :)
Nosehill is my favorite place to run barefoot. I usualy find a couple of days off to let that calf relax helps. Lots of massaging :)
Fantastic more barefoot runners in Calgary!
Today my family and I set out for the local Turkey Trot 5k run/ walk. Somehow we got caught up in the 10k runners at the start of the race and before we figure it out we were 3k into the 10k. The 5k was on a completely different coarse and there was no way to start again. Everyone desided to...
Standing, a simple subject but the more I look into it the more complicated it seems. Four weeks ago I walked into my office and cranked up my disk to a standing position. After sitting for 20 years and often hobbling with a sore back as I stood up I took a leap of faith.Guess what I no longer...
Well today was the first time since late spring that I had to wear shoes on my daily bike commute. The temp was 46 f and raining. My choice of shoe is the Walmart watershoe, which has soft rubber and great peddle feel. My peddles are cheap rubber coated ones ( I will try to find the made). So...
I did not wake up one morning and decide to run a marathon barefoot. It was a slow and gradual change in my thinking, a slow change that lead me to do something most people consider impossible, dangerous and crazy.   The day Simon Whitfield won the Olympic silver for triathlon, was the day I...
Like my son told me “Slow and steady wins the race dad”. Well at least it gets you to the finish line. I knew I would be slow, but slow is a relative term. There is slow like a turtle then there is geologIc time slow. Seven signs that you are running slow. 7, You say goodbye to...
May 1st was a great day. In the morning went to a community garden build wearing my IBRD shirt. Had many conversations throughout the day about what barefoot running means. Many people were well informed, others had never heard of barefoot running. After 5 hours at the build (barefoot of...
Made my pair yesterday using the soles from old watershoes. Today made the boys a pair from old rubber boots.
Just wanted to get my shoes up for others to see. The moccasins are my latest addition. They come with an insole which I removed through a small cut near the heel.
This is more of a test to see if I could post images to the forums from my blog.
This was my tenth half mary but first barefoot. Throughly enjoyed the run. Saw a few VFF including Hernan. Best part, running with Barefoot Neil. His RRs are always excellent. Thanks Neil. http://becauseallthecoolkidsaredoingit.blogspot.com/2010/11/last-chance-half-marathon-calgary-2010.html
