OK - 2011 was a bust for posting; apparently I forgot there are other people out there who run barefoot. Sorry for the lack of networking savvy, I'm just lazy! 2011 PR's (all BF) - Longest run: 15 miles. Longest race: 13.1 miles. Highest mileage week: 42. Races (all BF) Tiger Trot 5K: 24:54...
P.S. for those who follow this mileage log (why would you?), or much more likely, for me next year when I forget, I am following a fiscal calendar system for mileage reporting, so there will be a 4 week month, 4 week month, and 5 week month. Another great PR week once again! 42 miles barefoot...
Low mileage week - did 7 miles barefoot altogether. One 4 mile run, and one 5K race. Race was a great time - Orrville Firecracker 5K in the rain! Love running in the rain - bf'ers who don't are really screwing themselves. Great time with 22:00 minutes flat. Had lots of energy, and passed loads...
A big one!! 34 BF miles altogether. Runs of 7,7,7 and 13 miles. Woo hoo! PR for weekly distance (previous record was 28); PR for single run (13 miles). No injuries from 13 miler, but feet were definitely tender. Looked like I might get a couple tiny blisters, but they disappeared throughout the...
Crappy mileage week; had family visiting and various issues so just 4 miles BF. Waah! Took my rest week, as per Ken Bob's book suggestion. 4 miles, that is all!
Another great week - the race last week through this one off - was supposed to be a 4-day running week, but turned into a 3 day. Did 23 miles BF altogether - runs of 7.6, 7.6, and 7.6. Mixed in Luna's for another 12 miles, (but they don't count!)
Another good week, everything is clicking this month! Ran 8, 8, and 3 for 19 miles. The 3 was a 5K, the Massillon Eagles 190 whatever. It was a good road race, and a nice morning for a run. Quite warm, maybe even 75 degrees or more. I ran it barefoot, obviously, and finished in 23:19. A...
The big one people!! Finally, no splinter, no glass chips, no cherry pits (that's next month), and no bronchitis! Got in 26.2 miles barefoot. That's right - not a PR mileage week yet, but close. Runs of 5, 5, 5, and 11.2 miles!! 11.2 was a distance PR. Absolutely no wearing on the foot...
Sick all week and only managed to get in 3 miles for the week. Darn!
Was, keyword, was, having a great week. Had 8 miles in the can by Wednesday, and was ready for my first 20 mile week this year. But no - came down with awful bronchitis, and haven't left the house in 2 weeks. So, May Week 2 - 8 miles. (great miles, wonderful miles. joyous miles) Week 3 will be...
First week of May was decent - 12 miles I believe. 5 miles, 4 miles and 3.1 miles, which was a 5K race. Hoping to do 50 miles this month, and I seem behind that pace. 5K was good - Mother of All Races in race reporting. 23:11 finish time; 3rd of 9 in age group. (none of the elite runners seem...
Another decent week, 11 miles, nothing spectacular. 3, 3, and 5 mile runs. Almost fully recovered from glass in foot. I'm used to it healing instantly, and this took more like 2 weeks. No worries, as it stayed under 40 degrees most mornings (arrrgh!!!) here in Ohio. Now that it's May, it was 34...
Had a pretty good week last week. Did 17 miles overall, 3 miles, 2 miles, 3 miles, and the grandaddy, a 9 MILER on Sunday. Woot! It was nice and rainy, just kept my feet superwet and cool the whole way. Felt great, no new injuries, but I still have nagging pain from some glass. Some gidgit...
Well, a crappy week overall. Some kind of splinter/glass something in the arch of my left foot has pretty well disabled me this week. Managed to get in 7 miles total. (poop!). I'm letting it heal before I dig around with my safety pin again. Last year I popped a pebble out of my heel that was...
OK - Put in 15 miles last week. 3 on Tue; 3 Thu; 3 Fri.; 6 on Sunday. Biggest problem this year is getting lots of splinters. No blisters, no frostbite, nothing exciting. But these stupid splinters. Spousal unit refuses to go anywhere near my feet, so guess I'm on my own with this one...
Well, just finished my first barefoot 5K of the year, the Tiger Trot. It was a little cold for BF running, at 36 degrees at race start. My feet were pretty numb the whole time, but not full-on stump thumping numb. It's pretty cool that since I've been in the newspaper, nobody asks me about...
OK - first week of March I finished with 2 miles total, of very small little runs of a 1/4 mile or so. 2nd week of March I ran 5 miles with runs getting up to 1/2 mile every day. 3rd week of March kind of sucked - only 3 runs, at 2.25, 1.5, and 1.6 miles, so still about 5 miles. 4th week of...
Wow, this has been the worst winter of all time. We had so much snow I couldn't even get to the gym to run in shoes never mind barefoot. Luckily, we've had a break in weather, and I've had a break in my winter depression to get back out there. So, this won't sound like much, but starting...
Man, I haven't posted in forever. OK - in September Idid get a 28 mile week in. 7 days at 4 miles a day. So, that was my record week. Ithink Igot about 70-80 miles altogether in September. October was a waste; Iwussed out and started running in Vibram's as soon as it got under 50 degrees...
Another PR Week. Got in 21 miles on 6 runs of 3.5 miles. This week goal:12 miles bare, 6.2 in VFF. (gravel trail race I could do barefoot, but Iwouldn't be too happy at the end of it! Or maybe very happy at the end of it!). Next week's goal:28 miles in 7 4-mile runs. Very, very excited...
