Well, just finished my first barefoot 5K of the year, the Tiger Trot. It was a little cold for BF running, at 36 degrees at race start. My feet were pretty numb the whole time, but not full-on stump thumping numb.
It's pretty cool that since I've been in the newspaper, nobody asks me about barefoot running anymore, they just say hello. Which is awesome, as I am not a talker. This is a super-tough 5K, the first 2 miles are all uphill. The winners are usually at the 20-minute mark, which in our league, would be considered a really slow time.
I ran the race without incident. I was passed by just one person at the 2-mile mark, and otherwise held my pace pretty well. Finished in 24:50 ish, which is my slowest 5K ever, but I don't care. I was excited to finish injury-free, in 36 degrees and rain.
That's about it - a nice course, but it's never been above 40 degrees for this race. Maybe one day!
