So, my name got drawn for the Superior fall 100. Has anyone ran it? Or spent some time on the Superior Hiking Trail? Wondering if sandals will be enough?

Cool, I looked it up seems like a tough one 21,000' elevation gain and a point to point. 95% single track though, that's awesome!

Good news OneBite. A couple of the runners over at the Runners World forum have run it, maybe post something there. Course they will all tell you to wear shoes.;)

I know you posted this a long time ago, but if I rememeber, Sawtooth is a fall race. I have spent much time running on the SHT, and it is very rugged. The rocks are quite sharp and there are a lot of them. It is rather narrow, rocky, and holey single track. There are areas where you climb up steep, sharp rock falls and boulder beaches. I do not run most trail barefoot, so I can't tell you whether you should or not. But it's pretty rugged. This is part of the trail, for example.

    Never wrote this one up.

I broke a big toe at mile 22 kicking a rock. Still finished, but it took me 35 hours.

That’s a hard and beautiful race.

How many hours is the cut-off!

And who cares, right?! You made it! 100 miles barefoot! That's incredible in itself, but on that terrain, it's outstanding.

If you ever get your report together (and pictures if you have them), we'd love to publish it here.
