Summary - 2014 Winter Challenge

Our barefoot winter challenge was a resounding success. This year, 71 members participated and ran 7,840.3 miles. The ultimate winner with the most miles was Christian Lemburg with 934.6 miles. We increased the temperature range to 50°F or 10°C. This made a significant difference in the total distance ran. (3,471 miles in 2013)
Interesting facts:
- 28% of total miles were run in sub-freezing conditions
- Denmark had the highest sub-freezing percent (51.6%)
- Yvonne and Barefoot Jair were the only participants to record mileage in every temperature range
- Yvonne recorded the most miles on snow (38.9 mi)
- Yvonne recorded the coldest temperature (-8°F)
- Christian Lemburg logged the most sub-freezing miles (516 mi)
- 19% reduction in miles in the bottom 3 temperature ranges (less than 14°F)
