I'm a fan of the handheld
I'm a fan of the handheld water, too. I don't like the sweaty hand, but there aren't any water fountains on any of my routes and I hate hate hate having a dry mouth when it's hot out. Also, it helps to keep my biceps strong-- carrying a pint of water during each run is a lot of isometric exercise.
I'm not a terribly minimal runner in any way-- Garmin, Sansa, hat, sunglasses, sometimes VFFs get carried around, too. No HRM or dog, though.
