Hi All, NYAB here as the newest BRS member from Virginia. I've been wearing VFFs since their 2006 debut and have been dancing around the idea of barefoot running for a few years......so I decided to finally make the transition.
It's great to be hear. I'm looking forward to my first meetup with other unshod/minimalist runners.
I am in NY but will be in Manassas ( Bull Run ) in July as a Civil War Reenactor. Ha - I will probably take my running gear with me and go for a BF run while I am there. No one will recognize me not in my fancy hoops!!! LOL
It is such a pretty part of the state. We have talked about moving near there. Except does it get really hot in the summer?
It can get rather warm. This part of the region tied 2005 for the warmest year on record - many days over 90 - but the heat isn't unbearable. I suppose it's how one manages in the heat.
It does get quite humid though.
Oh well. Cotton and AC are both great friends in the summer.
Maybe I'll come check you out at Bull Run....I've not yet seen the Civil War presentation.
Do you know the W&OD trail? I remember it fondly from when I lived in Vienna and Fairfax. I think it runs way out past the airport, but I'm not sure where it is in relation to Manassas Park.
