Not sure if you know who Micheal Sandler is but he is a big contributor to the barefoot running movement. He was involved in really bad accident and this was from his facebook page. I wish him well. If you know his history, he went through something like this years ago, which lead him to barefoot running.
"Three and ½ weeks ago I was involved in a life-threatening “accident” which nearly took my life. It took multiple blood transfusions, the help of some incredible people and multiple emergency crews to keep me alive, and without the love, help, support, and cool-headedness of my wife I wouldn’t still be here.
The accident left me with a matching titanium femur and titanium pin through my hip on my right leg to the ones I got on the left leg from a near-death accident I had seven years ago. Doctors told me the first “accident” was a one in a million, and to have it happen twice, with identical results, is perhaps one in infinity. It’s mind-blowing. There are no odds. But it means I know how to recover ) ) ) And, I’ll now be balanced. Let’s hear it for symmetry.
It’ll still be a challenging road to recovery, but I’ll be 100% again, running, hiking and dancing with Nature. In the meanwhile, thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers. We believe everything in life happens for a reason, and that this HAS to be a gift. It will surely be a life-changer, forcing us to step back and look carefully at every aspect of our lives. And so, I’ve begun heavy meditation in earnest.
We’ll lay low for a little while, meditate, listen, and heal. The last accident helped carry us down a very special path, and we believe this one will do nothing less. What that path looks like, we have no idea, in a sense we’re an empty slate, a beautiful place to be. So for now, I’ll just be putting one leg (so to speak) in front of the other. I wish everyone a beautiful day, and an amazing week.
With love and blessings,
Michael"
