OK, so I'm taking the plunge, skipping the marathon and going directly to an ultra. I'm going with a 12 hour so I can run my own race and not feel too much pressure. It's Labor day weekend so I have some time to do some proper training, what ever that is. My goal will be 40 miles.

If anyone else is interested come on out. from what I have read and pics I have seen it is not a barefoot friendly course, I'll probably swap between my Merrells and hauraches.
Any helpful training hints would be appreciated.
