I follow this Dr. Emily Splinchal's Evidence Based Fitness Academy information. She has interesting looking barefoot training classes. She even has a 6 hour "barefoot training specialist" class. I am waiting for the day when she starts doing some of her classes close to Oregon. In the meantime, the rest of you, professionals and laypeople, may want to check out her course catalog/calendar/online classes:

Maybe they will start

Maybe they will start teaching Barefoot running in the High Schools and Colleges.

Here would be my sylibus
[*]Untie your Shoes[*]Loosen Laces[*]Remove Shoes[*]Remove socks[*]Stand Up[*]Run[*]Repeat
If we started this in schools at a young enough age, we would not have TMTS issues since most children already know how to run Barefoot

Pardon my sarcasm, I just do not see any value at all in Barefoot Training. There are books out there, nost say the same thing and all are more directed at awareness than actual training. If people just took off their shoes and ran listening to the nerves in their feet, they would need nothing more.

I tend to agree with you

I tend to agree with you LavaRunner, sometimes there is just too much thought involved, when all it needs is to just get out there and do it.

I agree Lava and Bob to an

I agree Lava and Bob to an extent. Some people though, despite taking off their shoes, still don't listen to their bodies and try to run in the same manner as when shod. These are the types of people who could greatly benefit from classes, although, some of us could use some help in tweaking our forms to be more efficient, maybe some know they're doing something wrong, but can't figure out what it is.

Well it's simple for those of us who are already advocates of barefoot running (walking or living). However, for those who are NOT advocates (which are by far most people I know) they won't even consider barefoot ANYTHING unless I have some complex information to share with them about why being barefoot is better for them. And sometimes, starting with a different angle, like barefoot "training" is less "threatening" to the shod runner and goes farther toward convincing them to start making the switch, then jumping right into barefoot running. Especially if they see benefits of barefoot training then they might be more open to barefoot running, etc.

I agree with everybody.

I agree with everybody. Barefoot classes aren't that important unless someone needs the validation or the focused motivation of an event to jump on board.

I think it's kind of like publicity - anything's good except being ignored....or somthing like that.

Of course we can always say,

Of course we can always say, just kick off your shoes and let nature take its course, and that would be ideal, but that's not how it works for everyone. Some people need a little extra support than what we can give them here online. There's nothing wrong with seeking out one-on-one support/instruction, and if it will help them to transition more safely to do so, I'm all for that.
