I went to an art festival today in beautiful downtown Duluth, GA called Barefoot in the Park. There were lots of people there, but I saw only 2 other people who were barefoot, both artists/exhibitors. One of them called out to me to let me know that he was barefoot too! But I was seriously disappointed. The weather was awesome and the name of the event was an invitation to go barefoot. What is wrong with people in America? Why are they so hung up about shoes?

    because they are brainwashed

because they are brainwashed by the media to think it is wrong. They can't think for themselves, they have to have the media do it for them!

    We have all been brainwashed.

We have all been brainwashed. Yesterday I talked to a chiropractor who thought barefoot was bad because of the wear on joints. He was concerned the foot might move excessively during barefoot activity. Education is what we all need. At the same fitness exbo I talked to a chiropractor who got it big time, yes he was astonished I was planning to run a barefoot marathon on pavement but he had just a bit of background
knowledge and that made all the difference.

If you let the ignorance and

If you let the ignorance and prejudices of the general public get to you I think you're doomed to a very uncomfortable life. Cut yourselves free and enjoy what you enjoy. If someone else gets it, that's wonderful, but likely to be a reare treat.

Even the guy who did not get

Even the guy who did not get it had to think. He looked very closely at my ache and seemed confused. His comment, "you are one of the lucky ones who have a high arch that can support it's self" (puzzled look on his face)

Changing the world one odd look at a time.

I ran in a cancer relay last

I ran in a cancer relay last weekend and I was forcing myself to hydrate extra because I've had a bad sinus infection for the last two months.....anyway, I was forced to use the port-o-potties quite a few times. I've dreaded having to do this ever since I started running barefoot. It wasn't that bad actually.

So far the only resistance I've recieved from stores and such is when I went to get a haircut. They claimed it was against their health regs because the hairs could act like splinters and get stuck in your feet. I told her, "no problem and that I would bring shoes with me next time". She did cut my hair that day anyway.
