2016 was good to me! I made record mileages in running and cycling, and got a few races in and had a lot of fun while I was at it.
I broke a thousand miles (just running) for the first time, a goal I've had for years. In order to do that though I gave up some time consuming things - decided to skip a garden this year and also took a year off from my huge amount of home renovations.
Ok so distances... I recorded these using Endomondo Sports Tracker:
Running -
1180 miles (1142 barefoot, 38 minimalist)
Hiking -
35 miles (all barefoot)
Walking -
74 miles (51 barefoot, 23 minimalist. These are specific work outs, not counting every day walking around home and the mall
)
Cycling -
1555 miles (all barefoot except 2 or 3 rides)
XC Skiing -
4 miles (only had opportunity to get out once with enough snow)
Kayaking -
5 miles (rather embarrassed to admit I only got out once)
So to do the math for TJ my combined total 'on foot' (run+hike+walk)
1289 total, that is
1228 barefoot and
61 in minimalist
Also tracked my stair climbing I do at work. I work in a hi-rise and take the stairs usually instead of elevator. In addition on nightshifts I try and hit the stairs every two hours or so.
Stairs - 14hrs : 32m : 43s
4,050 floors up and 4,875 floors down, these are large floors, 20 steps each
Time was only recorded for the going up, as Endo calculates calories based on climbing, like a step machine, I thought the numbers would be way off if I including going down.
Total Calories for all 2016 sports reported by Endomondo estimated to be 266,180kcal!
A ran a few races in '16, had a blast and broke some PRs as well! All were barefoot.
1 full marathon
18.12 Challenge (set new PR of 2:09)
1/2 marathon (set new PR of 1:34)
10k (set new PR of 39:22 and 1st place!)
4 miler
no 5k's this year, kind of weird, but none I usually do lined up with my days off
On the bike I did my first ever 100 mile ride, and also my first ever multi-day trip - 3 days on bike camping and over 200 miles.
