It was 21F (-6C) when I went out today to run at 4:30AM. I decided, after Sunday's run, to limit myself to 4 miles, due to time exposure and no sunshine (afternoon run on Sunday). I read that the MUCH slower pace of adjusting to "heart rate" running was maddening, but I want to be a better runner, and this guy has the cred.
After the run this morning, a run which I managed much better from the HR side of things, I was shocked that my pace was 11:42/mile. That is FOUR MINUTES per mile better than Sunday! I cannot explain that. It is still about 1:30/mile slower than normal, which is expected when making the change to run at the 180 -- Age pace.
Well, we'll see what the next run brings. BTW, with the reduced CV effort in running, it is easier to focus on form during the run...
