Overheating is a very common cause of what is perceived as "tiring out."
The body has a number of important ways of dissipating heat, but we seem to try to defeat most of them.
For example: There are three circulatory beds designed especially to lose heat: the scalp, the hands, and the feet. (Google "acral circulation) Shoes and or sox prevent the body from using the acral circulation of the feet as a heat losing mechanism. In fact, the shoes become very hot and add to the body heat instead of dissipating it. Waterproofing makes the problem worse, and so called mesh or tiny decorative slits are essentially useless in achieving the needed airflow.
One of the several benefits of barefoot running is the avoidance of overheating. (Of course, I use other heat losing strategies as well.)
