and back to it

Had kinda a lazy week last week, hence the lack of posting. Went back to it full on yesterday. My first outdoor run. Didn't run it barefoot (my husband said he wouldn't run with me if I did) so ran in my Vibrams. Didn't quite understand that running makes you warm so it was about plus eight outside and I was way too overdressed for running. I now understand why people say dress for ten degrees warmer. Actually had to stop a little early cause I was just way too warm.
It was windy today so I did my usual run at the indoor track and I got my first ever comment about how I was running without shoes. Nobody ever comments on it. Today I was told it was crazy how I could run without shoes but if I wasnted to be able to keep running I should put on some shoes so I don't wreck my knees. I kinda tried explaining but I did't do a very good job so I think she just thinks I'm crazy. I didn't want to sound preachy (small town. I will see her often) and more so now that I just watched that silly "shit barefoot runners say".
How to you guys deal with statements like that?z

The day before yesterday I ran my first couple of hundred yards barefoot at the end of my 'regular' run.
It seemed I was all alone outside, hadn't encountered anybody yet.
And indeed, just at the moment I had taken off my shoes, there was a man walking his two big dogs...
No, I didn't get any comment, at least not a verbal one... But he didn't answer my friendly greeting, but just looked as if he thought I just escaped from an asylum...
Minutes later, just as I wanted to donn my shoes again, there was another dogwalker. I though I recognized her as our neighbor, who already considers us as rather odd people. So I hurried to put those shoes and socks on, but didn't whipe the gravel of my feet... and so those final kilometer home hurt my feet more than the barefoot meters did...
