Had the Hopslam at a steak/burger/sports bar last Friday. Damn, that's a great beer. But I can't find it in any of the booze shops. They're already sold out. I wonder why it only comes out in limited release. Seems like it could be a perennial top-seller.
The big retailer I usually go to said they got 50 cases and sold out in two weeks. Wish you would've raved about this beer earlier, although at $16.99 a six-pack, I'm kinda glad you didn't.Wow, I'm not sure how you found it in Minn., but good for you. I have to scour or go to the brewery (such a chore!!!not ). However, I bought 6-pack today at a local wine and beer shop, and heard the rumor that I should "stock up" since this one is discontinued. TRAVESTY.
Especially since that stuff is way too $$$ to stock up on for my budget.
Good beer.
Great beer, and I've tried similar styles from other breweries. Hopslam hits all the right notes.
I'm thinking of starting a petition, to let them know to keep making this one!!!

But what's the deal with limited releases? Is it that they don't think they'll sell enough volume over time to make distribution profitable? I've been enjoying a bottle of SN's Ruthless Rye at the end of the day these days, and it's baffling why it's only sold for a few winter months. It seems just as good as the Torpedo, which is sold year-round. Anyway, at least they got the price right--it's $11.99 for a 12-pack.
Elysian Espresso Milk Stout, yum!
It is pretty mild. My wife even really liked it and she normally doesnt care for stouts much.I like a good stout, but sometimes the *other* flavors are overwhelming.
A local brewery makes a vanilla stout that is so vanilla it is almost extract.
Is the coffee part subtle? 'Cuz if it is, I'm in.
I just cracked another open and realized there is a bit of coffee flavor, but its not as bad as some espresso stouts. It is pretty mild. My wife even really liked it and she normally doesnt care for stouts much.
I asked Bells why they don't produce Hopslam all year 'round. Here's what they said [I have added to the reply to make it more BRS-appropriate]:I know. That scarcity reinforces our affection, no?
Maybe when they made this beer, they had no idea how good it would be?
I dunno, but I would buy a lot more of it on a regular basis if I could. And if it were still available, it would be a loooong time before I looked for another one like it.
I like how you edited out his name, but left his email and his unlisted cell number.Sincerely,

How do you know it's unlisted? I wouldn't think he'd send out private info to a website inquiry . . .I like how you edited out his name, but left his email and his unlisted cell number.
Perhaps, you secretly want us to call him at all hours until he caves? Give us the signal and we will commence Operation Hopslam!
Google it.How do you know it's unlisted? I wouldn't think he'd send out private info to a website inquiry . . .
So it was you who got the Hopslam distributed to my local liquor shop. Thanks for calling in!Google it.
Some professionals will provide their cell as a courtesy, but not want it posted publicly. My oral surgeon gave me his cell number after a procedure, but I'm fairly certain that he didn't want me to post it online.
Not quite, but glad that it worked out for you.So it was you who got the Hopslam distributed to my local liquor shop. Thanks for calling in!
It's also fairly common for contractors to give out their cell while they're working on a project, but again they probably don't want you to post them online. I have the contractors' cell numbers for the fence, plumbing, garage door, AC, appliance delivery, pest control, etc.Still, seems like surgeon/patient and marketing coordinator/website inquirer involve different degrees of intimacy. But I guess I'm a little out-of-touch in this social media/webworld age.
