2014 International Barefoot Running Day is right around the corner!

Here's the main page full of info: http://thebarefootrunners.org/pages/IBRD/

We're in the process of getting all the 2014 IBRD info ready for you, so in the meantime, be thinking about hosting an IBRD event in your area, but first, please check to see if there is already one on the schedule here: IBRD Local Events Listing

Be sure to check out IBRD Event Listing (http://www.thebarefootrunners.org/pages/ibrd_local_events_listing/) to see if there is an event near you that you can attend. If you don't find one, then think about hosting one of your own. We need you. All of you. To get out there and run. Run with your friends. Run with your family. Just get a bunch of barefooters together and go run somewhere.

You can organize your meetup around a local race going on. If you have the skills, you can host a clinic or workshop.

Once you've decided what you want to do...

Add your event details to our IBRD Events Listing, so others in your area can join you.

Visit the IBRD link on the site for everything you need to know to get your event registered and noticed (http://thebarefootrunners.org/pages/IBRD/).

Register (no cost, simple stuff, just list it): http://thebarefootrunners.org/forms/ibrd-event-registration.3/respond

Get Your Event Noticed to increase your attendance: http://thebarefootrunners.org/library-articles/ibrd-noticed.11/

Use all the resources the BRS has to offer and more to get your attendance up, including our Facebook pages.

And don't forget, we have the 2014 IBRD Tee Shirt DESIGN Contest going on right now, so at the end of this month, be sure to vote on your favorite design. Then find the winning design in the BRS's Store (http://www.zazzle.com/barefootrunnerssoc), and order your tee shirts for IBRD.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at BarefootTJ@TheBarefootRunners.org.

Stay tuned for more info shortly!

    Hey everyone,

I am just preparing some information about this year's IBRD event in Marburg/Germany.
Is there an official IBRD 2014 logo avaliable (as it was for last year's IBRD) which may be used on my events website?

    Cheers,
    Martin

I have asked for a single, combined image of the two (front and back) for website usage only from the artist. Once I get it, I will forward it to you via email. In the meantime, please register your event here: http://thebarefootrunners.org/forms/ibrd-event-registration.3/respond Thanks!

My company ChampionsEverywhere are thinking of hosting an Irish version of this but we had a few questions that you might be able to give some input on - have you traditionally done most of these events in parks and if so have you find issues with park authorities and insurance. I have a nice venue (Marlay Park) but we'd need to contact them first and I have a feeling that first they'll ask for insurance and when they hear the word "barefoot" there is a big chance we'll be told NO. Has anyone else encountered this and how did you work around it? I.e. did you just do it in a public space with no park authorities to worry about?

Are you in Ireland, Northern Ireland, ? We have a chapter for Northern Ireland. Please feel free to join it.

We would love to have an IBRD event in Ireland.

We're running out of time, so plan in a hurry and then register your event here IBRD Event Registration Page.

There's also a lot of good info about IBRD for organizers here http://thebarefootrunners.org/pages/IBRD/.

There's even a link for Information on how to get started and get your event noticed and IBRD FAQs.

How many people do you think will show up? If it's a small group, I wouldn't worry about permits. Just make it a fun run with friends and family. You don't need a permit for that. Everyone runs at their own risk., just as they would if they were running on their own or in a small group with friends.

We have Waivers here IBRD Participant Registration Form that you can use.

If it's going to be a large event with banners, water tables, etc., then I can see contacting the park authorities and insurance. But with three weeks left, I don't see how you would get the word out to make it a large event.

With that said, there is one event held in Boston, Massachusetts, where the organizer Preston Curtis, known as Barefoot Runner here and on Facebook got insurance and a permit to use the parks there for IBRD. He actually does this for many other events and races too. Boston knows he's barefoot by now. To ask him questions, PM him on this site by going to your Inbox, up top right, choosing Start a Conversation and entering Barefoot Runner AND post to his Facebook page here https://www.facebook.com/groups/193858434199/.

Thanks for the quick reply TJ - we are in the Republic of Ireland so probably would be far from anyone in the Northern Ireland chapter. But that's all great advice - I think we'll run it the informal style as it was not the plan to make it an official race.

We toyed with the idea of hosting it together with the local ParkRun organisers but they have an event on the day before so are unlikely to want anyone to distract from that.

Sounds good. Please be sure to register your event through the IBRD Events Registration link. IBRD Event Registration Page That way, I can help you get the word out using all of our resources. You do the same. Question, would it hurt if I added the event to the Northern Ireland or any other chapters? If not, what other chapters should I add it to?
