I visit Abu Dhabi a few times a year, and stay on Yas Island, close to the formula 1 racetrack. There are regular training sessions there on Tuesday evenings which are free to register and attend. You can cycle, run or walk around the 5.5Km track. The first time I attended, I spoke with the organiser after being stopped by security, who permitted me to run barefoot. The second time I sneeked past security when they were looking the other way!

I went back last week and was told by a colleague that a local spartan training group now attend regularly for barefoot running and are negitiating the terms for being 'allowed' to run barefoot when part of the group. I am not used to the heat of UAE so my times are not great but it is good fun to run where all the cars usually go. It is truly spectacular and highly reccommended if you are in Abu Dhabi on a Tuesday. If challenged, just say that you are a spartan!
