Hi all, Need advice. My new Vibram 5 fingers will arrive today. I just want to know if people recommend wearing socks with these or without socks ?
Defo without socks and I hope you ordered a full size smaller than you are . I’m a size 9.5/10 uk size and I wear vibrams in a 8.5-9.0 and they fit like a glove.... you may laugh but I tend to take them in the shower with me after every couple of runs to clean them as they can get a bit smelly !!!!!!!!!!!
What kind have you gone for ? I always go for the kso evo they have the thinnest sole for the best feedback.
Thanks No issue.I've moved this thread to the Gear & Footwear forum with a redirect that will expire in one day.
Thanks ADeel, it's useful to read this experiences
First I have to say I usually use socks on long runs (>2h). I don't for short runs, walking and/or SUP.
I would say that your blister will not happen after some runs when your fivefingers get a little loose or "moulded" around your aquiles tendon. Meanwhile you can use a tiny adhesive tape just to avoid bruising. Or... use socks
Getting the optimal fitting from fivefingers it's a little bit complicated if you can not test it on a local store. Ordering online has its inconvenience. I personally should take at least a size smaller for my feet, I feel much more safe/confortable on those long runs with thin socks that barefeet. At the end it's a personal choice/feeling, because fivefingers' fabric is comfortable itself. In my opinion.
I use socks when it gets cold, otherwise it's too hot. I use my normal shoe sized fivefingers, otherwise my toes feel cramped. Some models are pretty tight at the back of heel, especially v-alpha, it actually caused me pretty bad back of the heel damage.. So if problem persists, I would suggest getting rid of them. Or modifying them somehow. V-runs used to have comfortably loose heels, but unfortunately they "fixed" that. This is what I did to my new pair of v-runs, heels got atleast a bit looser. I haven't tested them actually yet, I'll probably use the old pair anyways until the summer ends, they are pretty nicely molded after something like 2500-3000 km. Also have holes at both big toes and soles have worn thinner, they weight 10 grams less each.
How often you people wash these Vibrams? With every run / weekly / monthly / Quarterly ?Defo without socks and I hope you ordered a full size smaller than you are . Depends on what I use them for. For day to day activities maybe every couple of weeks. When I go for hikes or long trail runs (especially if there’s water crossings) I soak them in a water/vinegar solution. How often you people wash these Vibrams? With every run / weekly / monthly / Quarterly ?
