Never enjoyed running before...

I used to hate running. I once made it to 1 mile. Normally I have to quit at 500 m. So I never run unless I am in a hurry to get somewhere. Now I lost my shoes and running is fun.

Been running with shoes a little lately and now I know why: those things are soooo heavy. I've always loved going barefoot though people are uncomfortable with me and I tried to conform for quite some time. Unfortunately I've started with foot troubles (before ever losing my shoes) and I did TMTS on top (and from the above you can imagine that wasn't much - but way too much for my feet at this point in time).

I've just started over. Really, really, really slowly. Strengthening my calves really does seem to help my achilles tendon. I hope to be able to do some running soon (without pain in the arch of my foot 1.5 days after running).

There's not a dutch chapter yet, is there?

Cheers, Birgit

Welcome, Bee.  Would you like

Welcome, Bee. Would you like to head up a chapter?

Hi Birgit,Welcome to the

Hi Birgit,

Welcome to the BRS! I got a note that you wanted to join the German Chapter of the BRS. You are more than welcome!

However, we just started the Chapter this weekend, so we still have a few glitches to work through. Once we are all set up, I will officially add you to the chapter.

I'll send you a note when its all set.

Where in Holland are you located, by the way? I'm near Dusseldorf, so only an hour from the Dutch border.

Thanks for your

Thanks for your welcomes.

@TJ: I have no idea how much work heading a chapter involves. I tend to disappear from forums for weeks sometimes months (when there is too much going on in RL) and then come back. I'm webmaster for another society I belong to and I do manage to do stuff that has to be done usually within a week or so after I get an e-mail.

@Jake: Great to hear from you. I'm near Eindhoven which is an hour into the Netherlands. I'm a native german speaker though... I'll wait patiently until you are all set up. Maybe we'll run along the Rhein together someday (once I have my feet sorted out and can do some distance). The rest of the family here runs in shoes.

Bee,Good news - stupid me

Bee,

Good news - stupid me finally figured out how to accept a member's request for membership in the Germany Chapter. So you are officially member #2. Welcome!

Hey, I actually get through Eindhoven fairly frequently. We are doing more and more business in Holland. And we've been to the coast several times for vacation since its so close for us.

I'm sure we will see each other soon. And we can walk/jog really slow for a short distance as you get your "feet" under you.

Bee, do you know anything

Bee, do you know anything about Drupal?

Wilkommen, Birgit!  Ich hab'

Wilkommen, Birgit! Ich hab' for 3 Jahre in Stuttgart gewohnt, und ein wenig Deutsch (oder Schwaebisch genau!) gelernt. Das war 15 Jahre nach, und Ich hab' viel vergessen. Your English is much better than my rusty, limited German, but this is a great place to get good, proven advice from the experience of many other barefoot runners who have done this before we started. Build up slowly, and enjoy! Tschuss

TJ, no - to be frank. I

TJ, no - to be frank. I googled it and I assume it's the software this website/forum runs on? I do HTML in notepad for the other website. I suppose I could learn it though.

Our maps have crashed.  See

Our maps have crashed. See the Map tab at the top. Know anything about Google Maps, the GMap module? I just don't have the time to troubleshoot it. I know it's a size allocation error. Also, the map module does not see the database anymore.

TJ, if you have any questions

TJ, if you have any questions about Microsoft Word (or any other Office program) or VBA macro's then I can help you. Outside that I'm not a specialist of any kind. Sorry. - Haven't seen the map either - may that be because it's crashed?

I pretty much got all that

I pretty much got all that covered. The maps are down because of a size allocation error and a redirection error. Thanks though.
