4.5 miles at Presque Isle on Tuesday morning. It was a beautiful sunny late Spring day with no wind and temps in the mid-70's.I saw lots of geese with their babies in tow and heard lots of songbirds. There were a moderate number of other runners too and some early beachgoers. All in all, a very pleasant run.

the road was damp from rain the night before.

We went 3 miles Friday at 4:30 am. There were lots of stars out. We heard owls, whippoorwills, frogs and roosters.

    Really great outing!!

4.75 miles at Presque Isle on Saturday. Sunny but windy and cooler with temps in the mid 60's. There was a milky white haze far up in the sky which was smoke from the Canadian wildfires. We have seen this off and on all Spring. My run was uneventful although the residual cottonwood sap on the trail is still tearing up my feet. We need a couple of rainy days to help get rid of this.

We did a 3 mile run Sunday at 6:00 am. It was light out with a great sunrise. It was 67 deg. f. with no wind. lots to see and hear. we spotted deer, horses, crows, buzzards and many song birds. We heard something that sounded like a peacock (weird).

    outstanding outing!!

Started barefoot running again - 5,5 miles yesterday and today 7,1 miles of barefoot trail running. Yesterday it was quite ok, I actually run faster than with shoes, today it was bit painful but still with ok pace, I would guess that my soles were bit too tender from that previous run. Outer edges of balls of my feet are tender and tips of three middle toes of my left foot, but otherwise my soles are just fine. Trails here a bit technical, lots of roots and stuff, so most of the time it requires 100% concentration on foot placement. My foot placement was surprisingly pretty good, didn't hurt my feet by stepping on anything particularly sharp, it probably just was too much too soon. And it still wasn't warm enough for my soles to function that well, cloudy ten celsius degrees (50F).

I also did two bouts of orienteering (with merrell vapor glove) - 3,9 and 3,2 miles and two trail runs with skinners - 6,5 and 8 miles this week..

It's been quite long since I last run barefoot, I didn't run barefoot last summer almost at all. I have been using skinners 2.0, they are thin soled, but barefoot is still quite a different. I have back of heel bumps that tend to get sore when running fast, but it seems they get much less sore by running barefoot compared to using skinners. Because of those heel bumps I have not been able to run with bend knees that much, because it requires more ankle dorsiflexion which tends to hurt more, but now it seems to work just fine. I have tested various running techniques but it seems that I probably should forget all that nonsense and concentrate on Ken Bob Saxton's barefoot running techniques, it once more seems to work best.
