Well, after two weeks my achilles strain has healed enough
that I am now able to run a bit. What I am finding interesting
is that the tendon being very sensitive right now is actually a
good thing, it guides my form.

This morning I ran a mile barefoot and as I ran if I kept my
knees more bent and kept my landing enough mid-foot so the
tendon was not stretched badly (which is what too much forefoot
will do), then it was feeling pretty good.

Also, last night we had some severe thunderstorms with hail
in the area, so the sidewalks were strewn with all kinds of stuff,
made for interesting barefoot running/navigation :p

Anyway, not ready to do a 5K yet, planning on maybe multiple
short runs in a day to see how it goes but AHHHH it feel good
to run again!! :barefoot:

Jaybird,

Indeed one can run despite many injured body parts. I have had numerous spots over 20yrs of running that have been slightly injured but I could still run during the injury and they even healed while I was continueing to run. When something is injured it forces us to make proper technique adjustments or further damage the injures area. Of course some injuries are very difficult to run thru like stress fractures and broken bones. I have run with a heel bursitis for over a year with minimal to no discomfort.
