Ey Up. I'm Tim and I have recently made the transition to running in Vibram Five Fingers. My knees and hips are very thankful! I have always been put off running due to never being able to run for more than twenty minutes without lower back pain, hip and knee pain and occasionally shin splints (which I got more in my younger years). However, since running in the Vibrams, the only discomfort I get is in my lower calves but this feels like a healthy 'hello!' pain from under-utilised muscles. Oh, and blisters, but only on the underside of my feet which I have a feeling will ease up once my delicate plates of meat toughen up over time. I am currently waiting on a pair of Vivobarefoot Breathos which I'm hoping will greatly reduce the risk of breaking my neck on muddy trails - a distinct risk with the VFFs!
I'd love to connect with barefoot runners in London, particularly the East End so I might have people to run with unshod (I would feel less selfconscious running with others). I am currently running 5k in just under 25mins. I harbour a deep ambition to run ultras.
