Hi everyone, I am a relatively new runner (did couch25k last fall), and
have been trying a slow transition to barefoot while also doing a 26wk
training for the Portland Marathon... well, about 2 weeks ago while trying
to do a 5K at a 180 cadence (fast for me) I managed to strain my right
achilles I do not understand the injury fully, but I've definitely been
unable to run, have been satisfying myself walking the dog barefoot
Oh, the injury run was not barefoot, I was in some VFF Seeya's btw, so
far the longest I've run really barefoot has been 1.5 miles.
I'm 57 and I think the marathon goal this year may have been too
aggressive anyway, I have a fallback plan of a 10K and maybe a HM
instead... I've decided since the initial plan has been foobar'd I might
as well just take it easy and increase the distance barefoot. Right now
I'm just REALLY missing the running... sigh.
In any case, happy to find this site.
