For those of you that have a running partner...
What's the etiquette on race day about running together if you or your partner is faster?
My partner has been working for months on her book and has had to dial back on her running (we're both casual runners)
There is a half marathon coming up, and she's pretty sure I could finish a good 15 minutes ahead of her at this point and has told me I can leave her behind.
I'm not particularly interested in setting a PR at a Disney race, since they are particularly fun for stopping and getting pictures with the cast, so I'm ok with slowing up a little so we can stay together and show up in pictures together

Sounds to me like you just answered your own question.

Why are you running the race? If it's to PR, it's you against the clock, so throw your partners to the wolves if they're slowing you down. If it's to have fun, then what's 15 minutes out of 3 hours? It's more fun to run with someone.

    Can I tick both boxes...?;)
I often run with my partner -sometimes we'll race each other (we both have a competitive streak!...), and sometimes we'll somehow just end up finishing alongside one another because that's how we feel that day...:)

Depends on the goal for the particular race. Most of my races I race as hard as I can, so we run our own races. If I am not concerned for time, like its during training for a goal race, but not the goal race or perhaps a long race that I'm not adequately prepared for, then I run casual with my running partner at whatever pace she wants to set.
