I did not bother reading your

I did not bother reading your review. I have already tried them. I thought they were a horrible product. The toe box was awful. The shoe was way too narrow. The sole material felt like you were walking on plastic. The upper was a odd shape. That is what I remember. Be warned when you don't like them you are stuck paying for the return shipping. This is by no means a minalmilist shoe. Don't say I did not warn ya..........I've actually spoke with a few others with identical view points as mine. If you really enjoy having a barefoot, and tend to be critical of minalmilist shoes. This is not your shoe !

Well I can agree with the toe

Well I can agree with the toe box being too narrow but I have a very wide foot. I've had other barefoot and minimal runners think the toe box was ok. As for the rest of it I have to disagree. I think the sole feels pretty good as it's flexible and didn't get in the way of my sensing the ground. The only odd thing about the upper for me was the sole coming up over the toe and the narrow box. Outside of those things I thought this shoe was really comfortable in the upper.

I can appreciate an honest opinion though so just like all things in this crazy world of ours they will work for some but not others.

Hey now. That hurts.

Hey now. That hurts. Constructive criticism is always welcome...but please address it to us, not everyone else. :)

I hope you'll stay tuned - the Fall/Winter line is completely redesigned thanks to working sessions with some of the leading 'minds' in minimalist footwear, physiologists, biomechanics experts, natural and POSE running coaches, and ultra runners. It will be anatomically shaped, adjustable, super light (approx 4oz per) and have a new, zero drop compression rubber outsole. Hope your past experience won't taint your thoughts going forward...or you might miss something great.

FWIW, our intent with kigo was initially as a lifestyle shoe for everyone - so it's built on a standard medium width last. Not everyone likes it, to be sure, and that's especially true for die-hard barefooters like yourself. Hopefully this new iteration will address your needs better than what we've offered to date!

Happy running!

kigogal--I'm excited to see

kigogal--I'm excited to see the new product! Glad you're listening to your customers and making changes based on their feedback and based on research.

They really aren't a hot

They really aren't a hot shoe. I said in my review they could breath a little better but that's compared to stuff like VFFs that are an open mesh for half of the shoe. In terms of how the Kigo upper performs I would say it's better than most for breathability.

I too am excited for the new stuff that Kigo will be offering. I really like this shoe and can't wait for one that will accomodate my wide foot!

As for the trial and error stuff....that won't ever end. Look at the models that the major shoe companies put out one year and then they are gone the next or have been completely redesigned. The truth is that minimalism is a relatively new concept given the industry trends for the past few decades. Every company that comes to the table is going to have their own take on what's best and will produce it. After the consumers judge it they will make adjustments and new products will be produced. It's just the way the business works.

This is a great conversation,

This is a great conversation, and Barefoot Gentile, you make a good point - and one we've addressed with the new designs. kigos are made of breathable, stretch fabric, but there is always room for improvement, and one thing that keeps the shoes from being as cool as possible is a small amount of webbing between the layers. It makes them a super option for people who really enjoy barefoot activities but need something a little warmer and more protective in cold months/environments. The new models have the webbing removed, and it not only has lightened the weight a notable amount, it also has allowed the fabric to breathe as it's meant to.

Thanks, C. Beth. Run (such a cute photo BTW!) for the encouragement! We have the benefit of being a small, specialist company, and it's one of the great things about it - we make it a point to talk to our customers and really to listen - our customers, retailers and reviewers make the best R&D department available.

Jimmy, we really appreciate you facilitating this conversation!
