Excellent write up. I pretty much agree, in fact I went to a similar analysis as I did 9.5 miles yesterday two days after doing a 7 miler at the NYC Barefoot run 2011.
Your writeup made me clarify a few things.
It was also my first run with a metronome, and that made it a bit more challenging than usual, but I can see the advantage, of the constant pace, especially keeping the same cadence (192 bpm) both when you are fresh, and also at the lowest point where you are feeling a bit tired before heading back home.
