Advice on running in Summers where temperature are hot

If the earth is scorching, it's best to use minimalist footwear, unless you're glutton for punishment and you want to work your way up to increasingly hotter temps. Some people have conditioned their feet to do so, but I wouldn't recommend that. If you really want to, maybe start with some thick socks, then move down to thinner socks. Anyone else have any suggestions?

I don't know where you live but here in NJ this time of year the overnight lows are in the upper 60's / low 70's. Sunrise is around 5 am. I find that if I get my run finished by 9 am the black asphalt isn't too hot to run barefoot on. If I can't run in the morning I need to wear my sandals as the pavement doesn't cool off quickly enough to run in the evenings. Your experience may be different based on where you live and how cool it gets at night.
