The Barefoot Benefit was started in 2010 and is thought up and run by a group of six students at UT with the help of their professor, Dr. Ernie Cadotte. To our knowledge, it is the first barefoot race entirely on grass.

The race this year is at Lambert Acres Golf Club in Maryville, TN. A runner's clinic will be held at 1PM on race day, lead by Mick Larrabee, a physical therapist in Knoxville. He will help to show runners the perks and correct form for barefoot running. The 1-mile run will start at 2PM and the 5K will start at 2:15PM.

The race is a community friendly event and will include music from local artists and items from Knoxville vendors. It benefits the Samaritan Place, an emergency housing unit for the elderly in Knoxville.
