My First Barefoot Race in Korea After all my frantic worries, I made it to the race area a little after 8am after almost 3 hours of travel time, ugh. I found my group, put on my bib, sorted my gear, and headed for the bathroom and gear bag check with about 35 minutes to go. The bathroom line...

    Goofiest race ever

I'd say 6 weeks in a I'd say 6 weeks in a cast and 4 months of not running probably weakend it, just like anything else that atrophies while in a cast. My right calf still doesn't match the left one :-p When I would start to get TOFP, I stopped the run and backed off my mileage a...

Thanks TJ! It feels awesome Thanks TJ! It feels awesome to be back to it. The first month or so it was still twinging and then the TOFP started in, but it faded away and now my foot is fine, even when everything else hurts :-D

The long road back: Standing at the trail head

WOW!  So glad your son is WOW! So glad your son is well, I can't imagine how terrified you were. I will keep after it and see what my doc has to say at our next apt. Ugh, it just never ends. People who are perfectly healthy and never go to the doctor can't possibily understand what a gift...

The long road back: Standing at the trail head

Well, no, I'm not sure.  Well, no, I'm not sure. Supposedly I haven't really taken enough steroids for it, which is why I had to push for the test. How did you know you had a tumor on your parathyroid? I've thought for a while that I have a thyroid issue, but no one will listen to me.

The long road back: Standing at the trail head

Well,  I got a call from my Well, I got a call from my doc's nurse yesterday. Seems the healing process may be slow because of low bone density. I asked for a bone density test shortly after the MRI confirmed a fracture, thinking all the steroids I have taken for RA might be an issue. The...

The long road back: Standing at the trail head

Hi all, Haven't been over here in ages, life has just gotten too busy to keep up. I haven't run since early August because the doc still hasn't cleared me to run following the stress fractures in my cuboid and navicular. I'm slow to heal because of medical issues and the medication that...

Working hard at taking it easy

“Everything comes to him who hustles while he waits.” Thomas Alva Edison Followingmy MRI and visit with the orthopedic surgeon, the final diagnosis is better than I had feared. It is not a ligament rupture; it is a plain stress fracture of the Navicular and possibly also the...

    sore arches!!

I've been walking around in my "boot" for several days now and my arch is killing me! Obviously, I am not one to need arch support, but sheesh! I think the problem is a hard soled shoe without arch support. My foot is not flexing or moving naturally (of course it isn't, it isn't supposed to)...
