I don't suppose anyone else out there uses their running to deal with emotional stuff. I had a tough day yesterday and found myself longing to get out for a run, and felt worlds better after. I think that was another milestone of sorts in my progress as a real runner.

I do it all the time. Like I

I do it all the time. Like I said it in my profile--running saves me from myself.

So yes, running is my drug of choice, it always, always makes me happy, very happy. As matter of fact my former screen name was "always happy" how about that!

Yes, I use running to get

Yes, I use running to get away from stuff or to relieve stress after a hard day all the time. Like Dama, I always feel better after a run, especially on a day like that. It's like the old adage "A bad day of fishing is still better than a good day at work" - same goes for running (crappy run still better than sitting and fretting over what's bothering me).

Running has helped me through

Running has helped me through the toughest times of my life. I can't remember a single tough day or tragic event where I didn't go running later to help clear my head.

both running and knitting

both running and knitting help me cope when life gets overwhelming.. I am so glad to have the running back in my life..

 I call working out in

I call working out in general my anti-depressant/sleeping pill. Especially when life tries to get in the way, since it reminds me I really do need to do it regardless of how much time I have. I think my friends probably make fun of me for how much I work out (and I know my husband and his friends do since they are kind enough to say it to me lol) but some people prefer to pop a pill once a day, I prefer a good hard sweat session. I figure the side effects of my fix are far better.

Running to feel better doesn't make you a prima dona, it just means you are medicating with endorphins instead of alcohol, pot, or whatever your previous poison of choice was. Endorphins win the healthy award in the category.

 YES!! Besides all the

YES!! Besides all the physical health benefits, the mental/emotional benefits are outstanding!! That is one of the reasons why I am struggling a bit with the transition to BF - I miss those longer runs for their head clearing, joy increasing, stress relieving properties... /build2/sites/all/modules/smileys/packs/Roving/bigsmile.png

 Running/Exercise is the best

Running/Exercise is the best way I've found to deal with stress in my life. I actually have an anxiety problem and have totally gone off my meds because of it. If I start having a anxiety/panic attack I just go to the gym or for a run. I can just feel the strain on my mind just drain away and I like love that I don't have to medicate to deal with life. Definitely don't think it make's you a prima donna, I think it just makes you smarter than those people who deal with less healthy methods. Plus after all those stress relieving runs, you probably have one less thing to stress about, or so says those skinny jeans that finally made it out of the drawer...
