Very excited to finally get a moment to report on the IBRD experience in St Louis Missouri, USA. We have been at it here in St Louis for several years now with Mike Kean (former chapter President) taking the lead and starting the chapter and me taking over last year. Mike has left town for the time being and joined the military putting himself to service for our country but is not forgotten and is very much missed!
We targeted a celebration this year as this is my fifth year of going unshod which I started in May of 2010 while in grad school and writing a business marketing plan on Vibram Five Fingers and stumbled upon BRS (whole new life!)...... The run was hosted as a part of the St Louis Microfest Beer Festival which took place in Forest Park just outside of the downtown area (Forest Park held the 1904 Worlds Fair and actually hosted two of the first Olympic marathon barefoot runners from South Africa more here - > link).
The run was a 2mi run, clocked but not chipped.... meant to be relaxing for the beer junkies
smile emoticon There were two of us towing in the barefoot running crowd, me and Cameron a huarache wearer. We ended up blowing the race up with Cameron taking first and me finishing in the top 15 both of us under 14 min. Cruising! I guess we were thirsty.
We busted through the finish line and quickly made our way to the Samuel Adams Beer tasting for an hour. I took off following that but Cameron was the real trooper who stuck around for a beer tasting from 12 - 4! I imagine his feet swelled up and blew out of his huaraches.... at least mine would..... I wonder what Jesus did when he took in too much salt and experienced swelling

Overall a great experience and adventure which is what I have to say just about anytime I head out the door barefoot!
Looking forward to next year and some regular runs coming up in the coming months of warmth and summer !
