The company I work for had a "health fair" day today. There were reps from the Heart Association, Diabetes, Asthma and Allergy, Dentistry, Nutrition etc. People could get their BMI, BP and sugar levels checked - you get the idea.
There was one lady from the BDA Podiatry Center. She had various displays of shoes, trainers etc. and a few pamphlets. I mentioned that I run barefoot and have been doing so for about 3 years and how the pain I experienced in running in regular running shoes had all disappeared since my transition to BF running.
I then got a short but tense explanation that her office was treating lots of people who had taken up the "barefoot running craze" and now they all had injuries from doing so. I was surprised as I had only ever seen 1 other person running barefoot along a road.
She then elaborated that (and I quote) "There are 10 types of feet - and only 1 type is suitable for running barefoot." I don't remember seeing any such assertion in any of the books or articles I have read. I got her to repeat it - just to be sure I heard right. She then said "you are obviously in the one in 10 group."
So my questions to this forum are:-
Is there any truth to her assertion?
What are your reactions to this assertion?
and to think to find out I am only 1 in 10 when I thought I was 1 in a million! ;>)
