Xeroshoes: Here they are :)

I went yesterday to pick up the package from the post depot.
The pictures below are taken fresh out of the bag. Check out the new Xeroshoes logo :)

The customized huaraches do not only come cut to your foot's shape but also correctly tied... I can't thank you enough for that Steven, Kim and Bill. I am good with knots and I have been able to learn some of the traditional lacing methods myself... but I would have spent a few days trying this lacing and my window of opportunity is very short.

My own way of lacing felt always extremely tight and it ended up hurting. This method allows you to tie and untie without having to loose all the knots so that putting on the huaraches is even quicker than putting on a pair of normal shoes (even my faithful MT10).

The metal thingy to the right of the Xeroshoes logo is a leather punch that is also delivered with the huaraches, custom or kit. I already have a full set of them, but a spare one is welcome.

The knots may seem rather huge but I can assure they aren't: On my first pair I went to great lengths to get as thin a knot as I could. I manage to make them extremely thin and small. One broke during a run and I had to retie it: With no lighter and in the middle of a park I had to make do with just the knot, no hammering or melting. But it happens that I didn't even notice the difference. The knot will move into the space between your toes and you wont feel it at all. However, in my wish list for future improvements on the Xeroshoes I would like to have the option of a small cavity to fit in the lace knot. I have actually been thinking on doing something like that with a red hot piece of metal... but to be honest it's not too much of a priority and just more of a mental thing to keep you from thinking on the knots loosening.

I will now give them a good trial on the road and trails and if the Gods of Weather collaborate I will run the Egmond Halve in them: http://www.pwnegmondhalvemarathon.nl/

And jsut to leave it clear (for my own sake and reference) I will aim only at 1:40 (!)
