I just finished what is for me my frst 'normal' week of BF running. For me normal is 3-4 times at my usual distance. While I am a tad short @ 4K per run I am close enough that it feels like a workout again.
This feels like a significant breakthrough in my transition from shod running. What makes it all the more exciting is that I was able to turn up the pace a bit on my 3rd 4K run of the week to a level that felt not only smooth in term of forefoot running mechanics but fast enough that I felt like I was running again.
Until now most of my 'runs' have been either short and/or slow enough to feel odd. I know this is very necessary during the transition process and I am sure most of my 'runs' will be of this variety for some time. Still it is nice to be able to see some progress and to get in a good workout in the process.
Being time challenged I have normally run at a pretty quick pace, for me at least, to maximize the exercise value of the time I invest in working out. It is nice to be able to get back to a level that in some kind of wierd way soothes my competitive spirit. I am also hopeful that my first short (1 mile) race in huaraches this weekend goes well.
I guess this is literally where the rubber hits the road eh...
